About

Faith. Story. Community. Culture-Making.

Fireseed is an orchestrated effort among emerging city citizens to build relational bridges so that mercy and justice may be planted in places of brokenness and dehumanization. Where beauty exists, we celebrate it. We collaborate to take on creative, cultural, and compassionate initiatives – locally and globally.

We want to experience and create culture of holistic apprenticeship  to Jesus. We want to see and be His vision of what the world looks like when love reigns supreme. We are inspired by His stories and teachings within the larger narrative of God.

We love to know, hear, tell, and live stories: the hope of stories, stories to come, stories of today, and stories of old, stories of healing, freedom, resurrection stories.

We are neighbors, college students, community members & culture-makers.

Currently, there are two Fireseed Missional Communities in Austin: The East Austin Fireseed Collective and Fireseed North.

The East Austin Fireseed Collective lives and serves the city out of  the Givens Park surrounding area in central, far east Austin. (Think Airport Blvd. and Oak Springs). If you are interested in living or serving with the community please contact  Ryan(ryanbwatters@gmail.com) or Melinda Watters(milliewatters@gmail.com)

The Fireseed North Collective in partnership with Origins Church lives and serves the city  out of  the Cook Elementary Neighborhood north of 183 at Braker. If you are interested in living or serving with this community please contact Jamie Holley (jamie.holley@yahoo.com)

  2. My name is Christine Baker and I attend Westlake Bible Church. I was telling Pat Chapman, who works there, about my program and she suggested I contact you for some direction and/or additional contacts.

In conjunction with Community New Start, I’m in the process of getting a Christian-based, after-school art program started in East Austin for underprivileged and at-risk students at Reagan HS.

While there are many aspects of this program, for the sake of brevity, I’ll simply say that the Lord has pretty much provided everything up to now except Christian art instructors. I’m wondering if you know of anyone (grad or undergrad students even) that would be interested in participating in this program and making a difference in this community.

Please contact me as soon as possible using the email address associated with this comment. I’d love to share with you the details of this ministry and learn of any contacts you miht have.

I look foward to hearing from you!

    In His service,

    –Christine N. Baker
